Gatto Nero Review, 1713, Soranto Vaddo Anjuna, Anjuna Beach Road, Goa
Gatto Nero is a world cuisine restaurant with just 20 covers located on main Anjuna beach road. Its managed by Rajeev (a bloke from Delhi) and his partner Irina (of Russian descent). Gatto Nero is a quaint but cosy, bright coloured eatery. It has a fairly eclectic menu barring a few spelling errors on the board.
The food selection was a bit tricky. There was much listed and everything seemed mouth-watering. Rajeev pitched in a suggested a Duck in Apple & Plum Sauce with Couscous for me. Rahul, a seasoned diner at Gatto Nero, opted straight for his favourite Meatballs Spaghetti. The wait for the lunch was supplemented by some ice-cold beer.
From the kitchen to the table, the food was served in fifteen odd minutes. It came piping hot and looked really amazing. We first eat with our eyes. I dug into the duck with gusto and was delighted by the sheer brilliance of the dish. Rajeev told me that it is marinated for 24 hours before it’s brought out to be cooked. This one is a clear winner and a must-have.
The Meatballs in the Spaghetti were equally juicy and delicious. I am not really fond of pasta, but this spaghetti was quite enamouring.
With due compliments given to Rajeev on the outstanding food we exited. I am sure I haven’t seen the back of this small but exciting food joint in Goa.
Hop on to Gatto Nero for some great food, if you are out there anytime.
