Kotputli | Briefly About Kotputli, Rajasthan

Kotputli is a municipality in Rajasthan, India, located between Jaipur and Delhi. Kotputli was formed from the main town of Kot and the nearby village of Putli. The nearby areas like Patan, Narehda both villages belonged to the Marwari business family before they were merged into a single district.

Founder of Kotputli is Sawai Jai Singh II who founded it in  the 17th Century.

It is said that Kotputli prevailed even during the times of Mahabharata, when it was a part of Matsya kingdom. During the time of the British Kotputli was a princely state of Khetri. Kotputli was also ruled by Tanwar Rajputs who were ruling this place for quite some time.
