  • Get your ingredients ready to make Steamed Fish with Mushroom Sauce | Steamed Basa with Mushroom Sauce.
  • To make the creamy & delicious mushroom sauce, heat 3 tbsp of butter in a pan and let it sizzle.
  • Then, add chopped garlic and onions. Saute till the raw smell of garlic goes away and onions are translucent.
  • Add sliced mushrooms and cook for about 5 minutes.
  • Cook till the mushrooms turn soft, brown and loose their moisture for about 5 minutes. Add sea salt and dried thyme and cook for another minute.
  • Check the steamer for the fish. It should be done by now (8-10 minutes).
  • Immerse the steamed basa fish into the mushroom sauce and let it cook for another minute. You can either immerse the entire fillet or cut it into strip and add to the sauce.
  • Serve steamed basa with mushroom sauce hot with toast or bread buns.

  • Use fresh fish fillets if available.
  • At times, you are not able to get heavy cream. The fat content of cream is important to thicken the sauce. If this is the case you can add a teaspoon of cornflour mixed with water to the sauce & thicken it.
