Backgound of Chili’s Gurgaon

I have always wanted to write about Chili’s Gurgaon but funnily other preordained tasks took precedence over this one. Finally, here I am with my take on this very obvious Tex-Mex restaurant located in Ambience Mall, Gurgaon. Finally, here I am with my take on this very obvious Tex-Mex restaurant located in Ambience Mall, Gurgaon.

A part of Dallas, Texas-based Brinker International Inc group Chili’s was in the initial franchisee in India with Om Pizzas & Eats (the chaps who also operate Papa John’s Pizzas). Now, it belongs to  TexMex Cuisine that is a private limited company headquartered in Chennai and having its Corporate office in Mumbai. TVS Capital Funds Limited, founded by Gopal Srinivasan of TVS group has invested in TexMex Cuisine and owns a controlling stake.

Ambience at Chili’s Gurgaon

Chili’s Grill & Bar focuses on big space (about 200 seats) casual dining restaurant that provides an entertaining atmosphere which their friendly staff ensures you get all the way. The dim lighting, soft music, sofa seating & marble-topped table all add to the laid back ambience that insists that you have a great time.

Over my numerous visits to Chili’s Gurgaon, I have found their food quality to be consistent and their portions to be on the plus side.

While they have a reasonable beverage list with exotic cocktails, I personally find Chili’s a place to go with friends for a meal with a few beers rather than emptying pockets on expensive wines. Though, once in a while, their Margaritas (Rs. 450) don’t bite.

The Food @ Chilis Gurgaon

Tex-Mex food appeals to the Indian palate which is where Chili’s can’t go wrong ever. A medley of dishes using spices, tomatoes, onions, red beans, & chilli are all familiar to us but when served in a style a la Mexicana they become simply gorgeous. There is an array of Fajitas, Enchiladas, Quesadillas to choose from the Mex part and much more on the menu from the Tex part.

Chili’s Gurgaon burgers & steaks offer juicy meaty moments for real meat lovers. I am yet to sample all on the menu but noteworthy are Craft Burger Bites (Rs. 375 – Four Mini Tenderloin Burgers topped with cheese, sauteed onions, and ranch dressing on sesame seed buns), Southern Smokehouse Burger (Rs. 425 – with bacon, cheddar cheese, garlic dill pickles, and what not).

And, if you really love your red meat, don’t ever miss the Fire Grilled Aged Tenderloin Steak (Rs. 550). It comes with a choice of two sides. I order mine medium or medium-rare and have never been disappointed.

I do have a difference of opinion on Chili’s signature Terlingua Buffalo Chili (Rs. 125 – meat & beans stewed in an onion, tomato, pepper sauce) which I have found to be under spiced for my palate and hence will stay off my reorder list. It also seems it has been taken off the menu now.

For the lovers of white meat, the Country Fried Chicken Crisper (Rs. 520 – served with corn on the cob and a generous helping of home fries & sauce) works very well. By all means, choose from Fish & Chips (off the menu now) or the Ancho Chilli Salmon (Rs. 650) which is actually seared with Ancho and served with rice and steamed broccolli.

For the Kids @ Chili’s Gurgaon

Chili’s Gurgaon works very well with kids too who love munching on all things chicken. So what takes the cake? The Triple Dipper (Rs. 300 – Southwestern Egg rolls, Chicken Crispers and Chicken Wings served with sauces to dip) works with kids of all ages while the tangy Boneless Chicken Wings (Rs. 300) can even entice a toddler to reach out for one. Create your own Fajitas (Fajita Steak is Rs. 375 & Fajita Trio is Rs. 450) is a big hit, though a tad messy but still a lot of fun. Simply roll the tortillas with your choice of lettuce, cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole, sliced chicken or mixed vegetables, depending upon the veg/non-veg option.

Throw in a bottomless pitcher of soft aerated beverages (Rs. 90) and you are a sure shot superstar with the gen-next.

For the Sweet Tooth at Chilis Gurgaon

Chili’s Gurgaon has some sinful desserts on their menu. I have mostly leaned towards their Molten Chocolate Cake (Rs. 250) but the Brownie Sundae (Rs. 175) has called out my name many times too.

Beyond the food & drinks for the entire family, a special mention also goes to their facility, for it’s hygienically maintained in-house restrooms as well as a cabin for smokers.

To SumItUp: If you are salivating for a real meaty treat and sinful desserts in super comfort, just head to Chili’s Gurgaon.
