Loomi - Sun Dried Lime or Black Lime | Make Loomi at Home
Loomi - Sun Dried Lime or Black Lime - Sun dried lime or Black Lime is used to produce a unique, deep citrus flavor in many dishes from Iraq, Iran & all the way to Morocco. The fragrance and flavour they impart even in the most humble recipes is unmatched by fresh lime or its likes.
Ingredients
- 10 Piece Persian Lime Key Lime or Nimbu
- 5 Cup Water
- 2 Tablespoon Salt
Instructions
- Wash and clean the lime and dry for 15 minutes.
- Add salt to water and bring to a roaring boil.
- Add and boil the limes in salted water for 15 minutes.
- Allow to cool and place the limes on a wire mesh.
- Set them them in a well ventilated, sunny spot.
- And, let the Sun do it's thing.
- Ensure to turn them once a day so they dry evenly.
- Your loomi will be ready to use in a week.
Notes
- Persian limes are ideal for making loomi, but Key limes work well. In fact, any lime will do.
- If you don't get enough sunlight, use your crock pot set to the lowest temperature.
