What is Prawn Curry Rice?

Goan Prawn Curry with Coconut is a simple yet a delicious spicy, sour curry that comes from Goa. Because of its taste it is also called Ambot Tik – Ambot (sour) Tik (spicy).

The sourness comes from tamarind, kokum or vinegar and the heat from chillies and spices. There is also coconut milk which takes the edge off the heat.

It is usually served with local Goan Fat variety of rice that is usually boiled.

Due to the abundant availability of a lot of different kinds of Fish in Goa, prawns in this curry maybe substituted with shark, kite, catfish, squid or clams.
