What is an Sauce Pan

What is a Sauce Pan – A saucepan is a deep stovetop pan with a long handle and, usually, a lid. You might use a saucepan to cook a sauce, or for soup. Saucepans are made out of various materials, from stainless steel and aluminium to copper and enamel-coated metal.

A saucepan has earned its rightful place as one of the most crucial pots and pans in a kitchen. Every professional kitchen has them, and every home kitchen needs them too. Sauce pan is deep with high sides and straight edges, and usually features a long handle and, quite often, a lid. Its surface area is generally small relative to its height, allowing heat to be evenly distributed through the liquid in the pan.

Saucepans are typically associated with the creation and reduction of sauces – hence the name – but also excel at braising, deep frying, and boiling water due to their depth. It is also great for stewing, simmering, making soups and making sauces like a pasta sauce.
