Thakur Jeoraj Singh | Briefly About Thakur Jeoraj Singh Bikaner

Colonel Thakur Jeoraj Singh should not be confused with Sardar Bahadur Raja Thakur Jeoraj Singh of Sandwa, CBE, OBI, Major-General in the Bikaner State Forces, Member, Executive Council, Bikaner State, Rajputana.

Thakur Jeoraj Singh was the 11th Thakur of Harasar, born 27th November 1905, adopted into Harasar, son of Thakur Sheonath Singh of Sarothia. Rao Bahadur  succeeded his father in 1912. He was educated at Walter Nobles High School, Bikaner. and the joined Bikaner State Army (Dungar Lancers) as Commissioned officer on 1st July 1926.

Subsequently he was appointed as a Captain and A.D.C to HH Maharaja Ganga Singhji on 10th Nov 1927. He accompanied HH Maharaja Ganga Singhji to Imperial Conference in London 1930, League of Nations at Geneva 1930, Round Table Conferences 1930 and 1931. Then, he was appointed as a personal secretary to HH Maharaja Ganga Singhji on 1st Feb 1932.

Granted the high honour of hereditary Tazim in 1932. Promoted to the rank of Major in 1933. Appointed military secretary in 1934. Accompanied HH Maharaja Ganga Singhji to London as Chief of Staff on the occasions of the Silver Jubilee of King George V in 1935 and coronation in 1937.

In addition to Military Secretary, he was appointed as a Master of Ceremony in 1937. He was awarded with additional Jagir, Badge of Honours and Rank of Lt. Col., succession to the Thikana of Harasar, the senior most Thikana of Prithvirajot Bidawats enjoying the honour-Dohari Tazim and Hathro Kurab in 1938. Household Gold Medal in 1938., Comptroller of His Highness Household in 1939. Awarded Public Service medal class I in 1940.

He was appointed as the Army Minister in 1940, Home Minister in 1941 & visited the Middle East to inspect Bikaner Army State Units during World War II. Awarded Africa War Medal in 1942. Promoted to the rank of Colonel in 1944. Awarded the order of Sadul Star of Bikaner in 1948. Appointed trustee of several trusts created by HH Maharaja Karni Singhji of Bikaner.
