Ayran is a cold yoghurt beverage mixed with salt. It is close to the Indian chaach or lassi. Ayran is considered to be the national drink of Turkey. Ayran is considered to be the most refreshing drink made by mixing yoghurt with iced water. It is served chilled and often as an accompaniment to grilled meat or rice especially during summer.
