Lungtok Tenpai Nyima, also known as Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche, was a highly respected Tibetan Buddhist teacher and spiritual leader. He was recognized as the 33rd Menri Trizin, the spiritual head and lineage holder of the Bon tradition.
Born in 1929 in Tibet, Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche was recognized at a young age as the reincarnation of the 32nd Menri Trizin, Lopon Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche. He received extensive training in the Bon teachings and practices, studying under renowned Bon masters of his time.
Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche dedicated his life to preserving and propagating the Bon tradition. He played a crucial role in reestablishing the Menri Monastery in Dolanji, India, after many Bon monastic institutions were destroyed during the cultural revolution in Tibet.
As the Menri Trizin, Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche provided guidance and teachings to Bon practitioners worldwide. He emphasized the importance of studying and practicing the Bon teachings, promoting the values of compassion, wisdom, and harmony.
Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche’s efforts contributed to the revitalization and recognition of the Bon tradition, both within Tibet and in the wider world. He was highly regarded for his wisdom, humility, and dedication to the well-being of others.
Lungtok Tenpai Nyima Rinpoche passed away on September 14, 2017, leaving behind a legacy of spiritual guidance and teachings. His contributions continue to inspire and guide Bon practitioners, and his lineage is carried forward by his successors in the Menri Monastery.
