Udaipur was founded in 1553 by Maharana Udai Singh II as the new capital of Mewar Kingdom. It is located in the fertile, circular Girwa Valley to the southwest of Nagda, which was the first capital of Mewar.
Udaipur is a city, a municipal corporation and the administrative headquarters of the Udaipur district in Rajasthan. Udaipur is located 403 kilometres from Jaipur and 250 km and northeast from Ahmedabad. Udaipur is the historic capital of the kingdom of Mewar.

How to reach Udaipur?
By Air: Udaipur can be easily reached from all major cities in the region. It has the Maharana Pratap international Airport or Udaipur Airport or Dabok Airport which is just 22km east of the city. Domestic airlines like Air India, IndiGo, Jet Airways and SpiceJet connect the city to Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
By Train: Udaipur Railway Station is located on the Udaipur Road, just 3km from the city centre and around 20km from the airport.
