Dochi Cafe Dochi Kasauli & It's Evolution
Some History - How did Dochi Cafe came into Being & is Growing?
It was in October 2021 when Vikaas Gupta, 36, a Delhi-based entrepreneur, started the demure café. It was a small chai shop in the yesteryears when I used to stay at Nature’s Nest.
While chasing his dream to live in the hills, Vikaas Gupta stumbled upon the same quaint tea stall-cum-daily-needs shop, which has now been replaced by the pizzeria.
He suggests Dochi is not your regular fast-food joint. It is cosy, exquisite and exclusive.
Traditionally known for its literary heritage and British-era architecture, Kasauli is reinventing its image through its vibrant food culture.
While visitors still flock to the Mall Road to see Khushwant Singh’s home or the cinematic Christ Church, the town’s newest draw is Dochi Pizzeria & Coffee House.
This unassuming roadside café in Dochi village has also become the face of Kasauli’s evolving dining scene on the Mall Road, offering authentic Italian flavours in a rustic setting.
Their third eatery is now in Chandigarh and goes by the name Dochi Pizzeria x AVRA. It is known for its delightful blend of Italian flavours and inviting ambience.
The restaurant offers a range of dishes, including wood-fired pizzas and rich pastas, complemented by refreshing drinks.
With a beautifully curated space that features both indoor and outdoor seating, it also promises an enjoyable dining experience for pizza lovers and families alike.

Dochi Pizzeria & Coffee House is the Day's Spotlight
The Menu Offers Trio of Pizzas, Desserts & Beverages with Adequate Portions
I have known this neighbourhood for years, being a regular at Nature’s Stay, a hotel managed by my friend Jag Mohinder Singh.
I have seen Dochi evolve with numerous shops, hotels, guesthouses, homestays, and restaurants of all shapes and sizes emerging in the neighbourhood.
Some shops have transitioned to a new avtaar one of which Dochi Cafe is an example, emerging from a small village tea stall to now a flourishing urban Italian cafe.
The Menu Highlights
Dochi specialises in wood-fired artisanal pizzas, and they take the craft seriously.
- The Crust: They use premium Italian ’00’ flour and a fermentation process that lasts between 24 to 72 hours, resulting in a thin, chewy, and perfectly charred crust.
- Customisation: My favourite is the “Half and Half” pizza, allowing you to sample two different sets of toppings on one pie—perfect for indecisive groups or solo travellers who want it all.
- Must-Tries: The spicy pepperoni and the chicken-feta-rocket combos are highly recommended. The pizza that arrived was a perfect visual, split right down the middle, half stacked with spicy pepperoni and the other layered with chicken, feta, and a tangle of rocket leaves. The pepperoni side was bold and satisfying, its edges slightly crisped, giving each bite a smoky, spicy edge. On the flip side, the chicken feta combo brought a softer contrast- creamy and slightly tangy from the cheese, with the rocket adding a fresh bitterness that balanced everything out. For vegetarians, the Margherita is a good balance between the herbs and tomato base with a good addition of cheese on the top, and the garlic bread are staples here that you must order.
- The Drinks: Their coffee is a highlight (try the Iced Mocha Nutella or a classic Cappuccino), and the hot chocolate is frequently cited as the ultimate comfort drink for the mountain chill.
Know Before You Go to Dochi Cafe
- Seating: The space is small and very popular. It can get cramped during peak hours, and you might face a wait on weekends. Reservations are highly recommended.
- The Drive: Some visitors note that the road to Dochi Village can be a bit rough or narrow. If you aren’t up for the drive, there is a second, smaller location right on Kasauli Mall Road, but most “purists” prefer the original village vibe.
- Pricing: Expect to pay a bit of a premium (pizzas range from approximately Rs. 650 to Rs. 900), but most agree the quality of the ingredients and the atmosphere justify the price.
