Shimla Sweets Pinjore-Baddi-Nalagarh Road Market
Food, Beverages & Service at Shimla Sweets
I was en route to Nandpur Bhatoli in Kangra and wanted to follow Google Maps for the route. The objective to get to Nandpur Bhatoli was to visit Ankur Guleria and explore his ancestral house with the possibility of converting it into a homestay.
So, looking for a shorter route that bypasses Chandigarh & Punjab, I chose to follow Google Maps’ directions to stay within Himachal Pradesh. This route took me from Pinjore to Baddi, Nalagarh and onwards.
Little did I know that the entire highway was under construction. The construction started long before my trip and is still going on with little progress. The route also had quite a few roadless & potholed detours due to flood-swept bridges. The Himachal Government was still taking toll on such roads shamelessly.
These devastated bridges have hence been restored; however, the traffic is far from smooth till now. I realised this again when I used the same route again while returning from Amritsar, again due to Google Maps, which obviously was not operating as it is supposed too.
Since to get to Nandpur Bhatoli, I had left early in the morning and was driving on such fine roads, I realised I had to stop for a bite and get some rest. My eyes were scouting for a place to halt, while my bones were already rattling enough by now.
That’s when Shimla Sweets appeared on my radar, and my vehicle gravitated towards it. Fortunately, the restaurant’s parking was fairly empty and I had no problem settling my truck into an empty spot right in front of the retaurant’s entrance.
Shimla Sweets - The Dhaba that is Standing Tall for Everyone
Shimla Sweets Pinjore-Baddi-Nalagarh Road Himachal Pradesh
Shimla Sweets, Himachal Pradesh, is a uniquely placed enterprise, given its location & menu.
Why is it unique?
At a place like Nalagarh, where options are limited. Shimla Sweets is a decent place with a variety of options available. I have not seen any place in the nearby geographical area like they are. Given the location on the main road and the extensive menu that they offer, the eatery is quite popular with the locals of the area.
Shimla Sweets, located on the Pinjore-Baddi-Nalagarh Road Market in Himachal Pradesh, is a renowned venue for its Punjabi cuisine, snacks, bakery, and a wide range of food & beverages, including South Indian dishes. They have ample parking available for patrons to park their vehicles.
They even have a banquet hall on the first floor of the building, which is perfect for small parties and celebrations.

The Menu Offers Both Punjabi Food & Beverages with Adequate Portions
Shimla Sweets in Nalagarh delivers exactly what its name promises: a selection of sweets, cakes and snacks that are conveniently located and that are, for the most part, perfectly acceptable.
It’s the kind of place you visit when you have a specific craving for decent food and aren’t expecting any major culinary surprises.
On my visit, the ambience was standard for a local sweet shop – busy, slightly bustling, and functionally segmented and decorated. The sweet and food counters were strategically stacked in opposite rows.
The display cases were full, which is always reassuring, but the overall presentation lacked any flair or memorable distinction. The seating area was right in the centre of this organisation of metal.
The staff were efficient, handling the patrons with practised speed, yet they were largely impersonal, focusing strictly on transaction over customer interaction.
It’s a place that runs like a well-oiled machine, prioritising quantity of sales over quality of experience.
I sampled a few of their staple items, including the Hot and Sour Soup, Kadhi Pakora and a portion of Rajmah with parathas to go with them.
I started with some hot and sour soup. The appearance of the soup reminded me of the dusty road that I had left minutes back. It seemed I had carried some of that free-flowing element that landed right into the soup.

The kadhi had just two (not soft but crumbling) pakoras and wasn’t as tangy as a Punjabi kadhi is. It certainly wasn’t stale, but neither was it melt-in-your-mouth outstanding.
The Rajmah were extremely rich because of the thick commercial gravy that made tasting the Rajmah impossible. The tandoori parathas were quite dry — a common but regrettable occurrence.
The food overall lacked the deep, layered spice complexity that truly elevates the dish. It was seasoned competently, without any unique regional touch or fresh spice blend to make it memorable.
Everything was served quickly and hot, which are definite positives, but ultimately, the food achieves the bare minimum standard required for its category.
Shimla Sweets is a reliable choice for fulfilling a basic craving, but it fails to leave any lasting impression that would warrant a special trip.
To Sum It Up
Summing up my experience at Shimla Sweets

Shimla sweets nalagarh, pinjore baddi nalagarh road, himachal pradesh
Shimla Sweets has the patronage of locals as well as travellers, considering they often stop here on their way to the cooler climes of Himachal Pradesh.
Shimla Sweets is located at Pinjore-Baddi-Nalagarh Road, which is also a state Highway.
Shimla Sweets serves a huge variety of dishes, sweets & cakes at reasonable prices.
They have Special Deals available for all your events, e.g. Kitty parties, get-togethers, birthday parties, and they also cater to bulk orders.
Shimla Sweets serves its purpose as a functional, middle-of-the-road establishment. The prices are fair for the portion sizes, and the service is swift.
If you’re passing through Nalagarh and need a quick snack, it’s totally fine, but don’t go out of your way expecting a spectacular culinary highlight.
