Muthia is the traditional healthy preparation in Chhattisgarh villages. Muthiya is a very healthy and heavy breakfast. It is boiled and contains very little oil.
In Chhattisgarh villages, people eat muthiya with great interest. It is also used as a snack and is carried by travellers for their short travels.
Muthiya is made with rice flour, water, salt, sesame seeds, mustard seeds, red chillies, garlic cloves, curry leaves and chopped coriander leaves.
1. Take Rice flour and add hot water, and salt to it.
2. Knead all the ingredients and make a tight dough.
3. Now make thick rolls out of dough.
4. Take water in a big steel or aluminium pot, tie a thin cotton cloth on the mouth of the pot and start boiling water. You can also use an idly maker for the boiling process.
5. Once the water boils put all the rice rolls on the cloth and cover with the plate.
6. Let the rolls steam for 15-20 mins.
7. After 15 minutes take out all the rolls and serve them hot with green chutney and your favourite pickle.
If your taste buds demand a more tangy version of it then season them with sesame seeds, mustard seeds, red chillies, garlic cloves, curry leaves and chopped coriander leaves.
