What is Rhus coriaria? Rhus coriaria, is the botanical name for Sumac. Rhus coriaria is a deciduous shrub that can grow up to 3 metres tall. Several species of the genus Rhus grow around the Mediterranean Sea; of these, only Rhus coriaria yields sumac spice.
