Bombay sandwich or a masala sandwich recipe is an integral part of the Mumbai street food scene, as are the likes of bhel puri, batata vada, vada pav, pani puri, etc. The sandwich is definitely filling.
It is since it uses a jumbo bread and is packed with butter, cheese, chutney and vegetables.
This Bombay sandwich recipe is my double-decker take on the popular snack from the streets of Mumbai.
Bombay sandwich is a full meal in itself and leaves you asking for more. That’s beside the point that you are not able to eat anymore.
If your ingredients are prepared well in advance, the time to create this magnificent piece of vegetable sandwich recipe is only a few minutes.

Indications for making the Bombay Sandwich Recipe
- Preparation Time: 7 minutes
- Cooking time: 6 minutes
- Cooking Gizmos: Grilling Pan or a Frying Pan
- Servings: 1-2 People (depends upon how hungry you are)

| Tomatoes | Sliced | 2 No. |
| Cucumber | Sliced | Half |
| Onion | Sliced | 1 Medium size |
| Black or Rock Salt | 1/4 tsp | |
| Salt | 1/8 tsp | |
| Chaat Masala | 1 tbsp | |
| Black Pepper Powder | 1/2 tbsp |

The Process to make Bombay Sandwich Recipe
- Get the ingredients ready. To make the masala finely mix rock salt, salt, black pepper powder and chaat masala together.
- Bombay sandwich is all about layering, richness and stuffing. So take a slice of jumbo bread and add butter to both sides.
- Layer the inner side with chutney and masala. Add a layer of potatoes. Sprinkle masala on potatoes.
- Add a layer of cucumber on top of potatoes. Sprinkle masala.
- Add a layer of onions on top of the cucumber. Sprinkle masala.
- Cover with two slices of cheese.
- Take a slice of jumbo bread and toast it on a pan. Now spread a layer of butter and then chutney on both sides. Sprinkle masala and place it on top to the cheese.
- Add a layer of tomatoes on top of this layer. Sprinkle masala and cover with two slices of cheese.
- Take a jumbo slice and layer with butter on both sides. Apply green chutney to the inner side and cover.
- Toast on a grill pan on both sides until it develops those nice grill lines.
- Slice the entire sandwich into two halves.
- Eat :)

The Process to make Bombay Sandwich Recipe
- बॉम्बे सैंड्विच बनाने के लिए सामग्री एकत्रित कीजिए। सैंड्विच मसला बनाने के लिए नमक, कला नमक, चाट मसला और काली मिर्च पाउडर तो मिला लीजिए।
- जम्बो ब्रेड का एक स्लाइस लीजिए और दोनो तरफ़ मखन लगाइए। अंदर के तरफ़ हरी चटनी लगा के मसला छिड़क लीजिए।
- अब आलू की पहली परत लगाइए और मसला छिड़किए।
- आलू के ऊपर खेरे की परत लगाइए और मसला छिड़किए।
- खेरे के ऊपर प्याज़ की परत लगाइए और मसला चिड़काइए।
- अब प्याज़ को दो चीज़ स्लायसेज़ से ढक लीजिए।
- एक जम्बो स्लाइस को हल्का टोस्ट कीजिए और दोनो तरफ़ पहले मखन और फिर चटनी लगाइए और चीज़ के ऊपर रख लीजिए।
- स्लाइस के ऊपर मसला छिड़क लीजिए और टमाटर की परत लगाइए। मसला छिड़क लीजिए।
- टमाटर को दो चीज़ स्लायसेज़ से ढक लीजिए।
- एक स्लाइस को लीजिए और दोनो तरफ़ मखन लगाइए। अंदर की तरफ़ हरी चटनी लगाइए और टमाटर के ऊपर रख लीजिए।
- ग्रिल पैन पर दोनो तरफ़ टोस्ट कीजिए जब तक धारियाँ ना बन जाएँ।
- आधे में काट लीजिए और मज़े से खाइये ।
