Hotel Aflatoon Mapusa Review, Ango Vaddo, Mapusa, North Goa
Hotel Aflatoon Mapusa is a hidden gem for those craving for good Mughlai food in Goa. It is located near the Masjid near Alankar Cinema in Mapusa. It is more of a dhaba but the food that they serve is splendid.
Being a North Indian my cravings for good Mughlai food takes me places. Aflatoon was recommended by my good friend Rahul Deshpande during my recent visit so it was a must-try.
The interiors of the restaurant are basic and functional. They cater to a mixed crowd. They have a grill that displays their wares outside. Next to the grill stands a tawa that churns out tawa roti, lachha paranthas as well as yummy beef and chicken rolls.
The menu additionally has chicken, mutton and beef curries and some really fragrant biryanis. The chap making the lachha paranthas had his own unique and funny way of rolling them. Check out the video below.
The Food
Our order comprised of Seekh Kebabs, Mutton Masala and Mutton Biryani. The seekh kebabs were meaty and spicy. No trace of channa dal that is usually used as a binding agent. The mutton masala had the meat falling off its bone though was on the spicier side. The biryani was amazing.
I could never think of finding such nice biryani at the western end of the country. I did note that the meat was a bit chewy in the biryani. However, there was nothing much to complain of such great Mughlai food at Hotel Aflatoon Mapusa.
To Sum It Up
Fantastic Food – Kebabs & Rolls here are the best. They have a unique taste, which will take your back to this place. A simple and minimal place, not at all fancy but the food is something that is sure to call you back! The must-haves are their amazing tandoor dishes and Mughlai dishes.
