The Story Behind Konnichiwa Gurgaon

Konnichiwa DLF City Court Gurgaon Needs to Focus More on their Food Production

Konnichiwa Gurgaon offers an exhaustive menu to choose from, however, the extensive menu can be disastrous if you don’t watch out. Their website calls them authentic and that confuses me. How can fusion be authentic?

Here is my experience with them from last night that was fairly disappointing. It reinforces my belief that owners from a non-hospitality (kitchen) background often stumble and fall because of their food production shortcomings.

However, in this particular case it was aggravated by a severe lack of common sense and use of language on their website too.

The Cuisine at Konnichiwa Sikanderpur Gurgaon

Konnichiwa Delivery Gurgaon modifies dishes and calls them Japanese.

I ordered from Konnichiwa last night to satiate my need for some good sushi. A friend recommended Konnichiwa Gurgaon and I decided to order.

So, Konnichiwa DLF City Court claims to serve Sushi & New Age Japanese, but it is no close to anything Japanese in my opinion. There is nothing authentic about its food that we can enjoy and rave about.

In my opinion, Sushi from Oishii Wok and Sushi Junction offer far better Sushi in Gurgaon. So do check them out.

Konnichiwa Gurgaon - Delivery Service & Packaging

The packaging was pedestrian and don't seem spill proof.

Konnichiwa delivers through Zomato so I have usually had no complaints with speed of delivery with Zomato.

When it comes to packaging, Konnichiwa is affected by the same paradigm as other similar restaurants in Gurgaon. They do not label their food containers and leave the discovery to the customers’ pleasure.

Their food containers are average and from no corner spill proof. They look good though but are practically useless.

See the photos above.

Konnichiwa Gurgaon - Food Experience Review

Dear Readers! Please note that this is not a review that has been paid for by the outlet or sponsored by an agency for the outlet.

Konnichiwa Gurgaon doesn’t have a handle on their food. To start with I ordered just two dishes – Prawn Avocado Sushi and Wasabi French Fries. This is what I think about it:

  1. Konnichiwa Prawn Avocado Sushi (Rs.720)– What is received was not what I had ordered. The decorative flower as a garnish on those 8 sushi was wilted, so it was looking old. The prawn was totally missing from the sushi, so, I felt cheated. Also, there was no wasabi and gari (pickled ginger) and the sushi was warm. How can you serve your sushi without these accompaniments? So! I felt more cheated. And, to top it all, the sushi container was not user friendly. Picking up a tightly packed sushi in that container just breaks it.
  2. Konnichiwa Wasabi French Fries (Rs.299) -I ordered for Wasabi French Fries assuming I’ll get a fusion of sorts like Peri Peri French Fries, but what I got was just French fries accompanied with some powdered wasabi mixed in store manufactured mayonnaise. Plus, the fries were relatively cold and soggy. So, this was definitely not Wasabi French Fries that may have had a value of Rs.299.

JUST TO SUM IT UP

Some information will understandably change or be less accurate as time passes.

When it comes to opening hours, website addresses and restaurant addresses, please double check this information as things may have changed since writing the blog post.

I am always 100% honest in my reviews.  If I don’t like something, I probably wont give it any attention on my blog and if I write about it, I’ll ensure it is elaborate enough so that the business owners can make relevant change.

never accept payments to compromise my food philosophy, so you wont see me recommending or promoting restaurants or products that go against what I believe.

I prefer to dine anonymously and pay for my own meals. I believe that provides a more truthful dining experience for me as well as my readers.

My reviews are not just about my experience, they are also a clear endorsement of what I liked and what an entity or an eatery can do better to better enhance their business. This is a moment of truth for them.

Occasionally, I may do sponsored posts as I cannot afford to spend so much time on my blog (as much as I love it, and as much as I love food) without a little something extra.

While they aren’t my favorite thing to do, I really cannot afford to keep this blog running without doing the occasional sponsored post.

Something about being paid to write about a subject bothers me, but I will always be completely honest.

I never accept payments to write something that I do not agree with and I only accept sponsored posts that fit into my food philosophy so you’ll never read about me recommending everything people may pay for.
