What is mutton used for the burger patty here?
Mutton is a term not known by everyone in the Western part of the world. Goat’s meat in the Indian subcontinent is usually what is termed as mutton irrespective of the age of the source.
Westerners use sheep’s meat and call it lamb if it is around one year old. Else, the meat that is older then two years is termed as mutton. So there is a whole lot of difference right here.
The word mutton is used interchangeably between sheep and goat, but since Indians mostly consume goat, it is the widely accepted term for goat meat. Meat from goat is actually called chevon.
Since Indians hardly eat sheep, you will probably never be given meat from a sheep if you walk into a butcher’s shop and ask for mutton.
